About the Treatment
What Is DermaV Laser?
The DermaV is one of the most technologically advanced vascular lasers available today. It uses a precisely calibrated pulsed-dye wavelength to selectively target oxyhemoglobin in blood vessels — destroying unwanted vascular structures while leaving the surrounding skin completely unharmed.
Unlike older vascular lasers, the DermaV features a built-in dynamic cooling system that delivers a burst of cryogen to the skin milliseconds before each laser pulse. This dramatically reduces discomfort, protects the epidermis, and eliminates the need for numbing creams or gels in most cases.
The result is a highly effective, low-downtime treatment for rosacea, facial redness, spider veins, broken capillaries, port wine stains, angiomas, and sun damage — suitable for a wide range of skin types and tones.
At Sergay Dermatology, all DermaV treatments are performed exclusively by Board Certified Dermatologist Dr. Amanda Sergay, ensuring expert-level precision and care from start to finish.

Step 01
Before Your Treatment
During your consultation, Dr. Sergay will evaluate your skin concerns, review your medical history, and design a personalized DermaV treatment plan. Avoid sun exposure, self-tanners, and any irritating skincare products for at least one week prior to your appointment. No topical anesthesia is required — the DermaV's built-in Intelligent Cryogen Cooling system keeps the treatment comfortable from start to finish.
Step 02
During the Treatment Session
Each session typically lasts between 5 and 20 minutes depending on the size and number of areas being treated. The DermaV handpiece delivers precise pulses of laser energy directly to targeted vessels, with the integrated cooling system soothing the skin almost instantly after each pulse. Most patients describe the sensation as a light snap followed by an immediate cooling relief — no numbing cream or downtime prep needed.
Step 03
Immediately After & Recovery
You can return to your normal activities right away. Some patients experience mild redness or slight swelling in the treated area, which typically resolves within a few hours. Any temporary redness can be covered with light makeup. There is no bleeding, blistering, or scabbing. Sun protection is strongly recommended following treatment to protect your results and prevent recurrence.
Step 04
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Most patients see noticeable improvement after just one session, with optimal results typically achieved after 2 to 4 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on the condition being treated, its severity, and your individual skin response. Dr. Sergay will outline a realistic treatment timeline during your consultation and adjust the plan as your skin responds.
Step 05
Maintaining Your Results
After completing your initial treatment series, periodic maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months can help sustain your results — especially for conditions like rosacea or facial redness that may recur over time. Daily broad-spectrum SPF and a consistent skincare routine recommended by Dr. Sergay will further protect and prolong your outcome.
