About the Treatment
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling — also known as collagen induction therapy — uses very fine, short, sterilized needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries signal the body to remodel and generate new collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for firm, smooth, youthful-looking skin.
It is a safe and natural way to harness your body's own healing mechanisms to enhance your appearance. Unlike ablative lasers, microneedling leaves the outer skin surface largely intact, which means faster recovery and a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — making it a great option for all skin tones.
Dr. Sergay uses SkinPen, the first FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market. SkinPen is clinically proven to improve the appearance of facial acne scars in patients aged 22 and older.

Step 01
Your Consultation
Dr. Sergay personally evaluates your skin concerns, reviews your history, and recommends a customized treatment plan. She will advise you to avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and prolonged sun exposure for one week before your appointment. The consultation ensures your treatment is calibrated to your specific skin type and goals.
Step 02
Numbing & Prep
A topical numbing cream is applied to the skin approximately 30 minutes before the procedure begins. This makes the treatment comfortable for the vast majority of patients. Once the area is numb, the skin is cleansed and prepped to ensure a sterile environment.
Step 03
The Treatment
The SkinPen device moves across the treatment area, creating thousands of precise microchannels in the skin. The procedure itself takes between 15 and 30 minutes. You may experience mild warmth and a light scratching sensation. After the pass, Dr. Sergay may apply a nourishing serum directly to the microchannels to maximize penetration and results.
Step 04
Immediately After — Minimal Downtime
Redness and mild swelling are normal immediately following the treatment and typically resolve within 24 hours — as you can see in the real patient photos below. Most patients return to normal activities the same day or the next morning. Avoid sun exposure and use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer and SPF for the first few days.
Step 05
Results & How Many Sessions
Skin will feel softer and smoother after your first treatment. Progressive improvement in scars, tone, and texture continues over the following weeks and months as new collagen remodels. The number of treatments needed varies with each patient. Dr. Sergay will recommend a series based on your skin type and specific goal — typically 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
